Capers was my foundation bitch, and my 'heart dog'. Bred by Maureen McCrae, (Layloch) Capers had a wonderful 'joie de vivre', and was always up to the many adventures and outings that we had together. She is now in spirit, having taught the youngsters the rules of the road. She lives on through all her wonderful progeny.
Capers was born May 30, 1996 and passed over the Rainbow Bridge Sept 6, 2009. Her name derives from the caper berry, used in cooking, but also from her delight in taking on any adventure put in front of her. Capers earned her AKC Companion Dog title before she was 2 years old, then went back in the ring at 10 to earn her AKC Rally Novice title. In between, she was awarded Best in Veteran Sweeps at the Holyoke KC supported entry shows in 2003 and 2004.
